Who doesn't love going out to eat at the beach? I know I do... and we have some great restaurants here to choose from. So, in a true nod to my former millennial blogging days (iykyk), let's review one of them :)
A couple weeks ago, my brother came to town and we tried to live it up like we were on a summer vacation complete with relaxation, warm beach days and fresh seafood. Like most visitors to the area, my brother asked me to take him somewhere tasty and reliable... somewhere I'd recommend to a stranger, and most importantly, somewhere I enjoy going myself. Enter... Henry's. (TLDR? Jump ahead to the video review instead).

Henry's Restaurant Review
General Information
Located: 3396 N. Croatan Hwy., Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948
Hours: Open daily, year round serving breakfast, lunch & dinner (hours vary)
Price Range: Entrees average about $10-$30
Type: Family Restaurant
Dine-in or takeout: Both!
Food Information
Selection of Turf: Plenty of options for those who don't like seafood
Pre-Meal Offering: You will need to order an appetizer if you're hungry! I have seen them bring out a basket of hushpuppies before the meal if everyone orders dinner combos (which all come with hushpups). Not sure about breakfast!
My Experience

Drink(s) Ordered: None this time around - just a soda & sweet tea
App(s) Ordered: We tried the Fried Pickle Appetizer ($6.99) served with buttermilk ranch. These were delicious and the portion was well worth the cost. The batter-to-pickle ratio was perfect. 5/5 stars.
Entree(s) Ordered: My brother tried the Fried Shrimp combo (full size comes with 12 shrimp), with house salad, fries, and hush puppies ($22.99). According to him, "The shrimp were really good; lighter on the batter than other places we've gone. 4-4.5/5 stars." I got the Fried Chicken Sandwich with fries & a pickle spear ($10.99). The fries were hot and crispy. The chicken sandwich itself was nicely battered and cooked perfectly - white and tender. However, the chicken itself (or the batter) could have used a little more seasoning as it was fairly plain. I added lettuce, pickles, mayo, ketchup & salt which helped the flavor. I would definitely order it again. 4/5 stars.

Dessert(s) Ordered: We were way too full for dessert!
Cost: $62.45 with drinks, tax & tip
Wait Time: We went at about 5:45pm on a Wednesday in July and did not have to wait at all. The food came out quickly as well. This is probably an exception for this time of year - we just happened to hit the right time and had a great waitress!
Actual Review
Cleanliness: 10/10 - Very clean
Service: 10/10 - The waitress was nice, quick, and efficient
Wait Time: 10/10 - We did not have to wait at all despite visiting during a busy hour
Family-Oriented: 10/10 - You could bring any family member or friend here
Price: 8/10 - Pretty reasonable compared to other local restaurants
Taste: 9/10 - Delicious food
Atmosphere: 9/10 - classic nautical wood style
Location: 9/10 - right on the bypass, easy to to find, ample parking (no water view)
Variety: 9/10 - pretty large menu with surf & turf options & simple country dishes
Portion Size:10/10 - sufficiently filling; appetizer was huge & I needed a box
Overall Rating: 94/100
In Conclusion...
Would I recommend this restaurant?: Yes; this is a great, reliable option for both a seafood lover and a picky eater. I eat here a few times a year and have brought many friends/family to dine in as well.
You should definitely try: Going to have to go with the fried pickles here - they were the star of the show.
